Neurobiology and trauma: The role of EMDR

Description

Recent neuroscience and neurobiological research in the area of Traumatic Stress is discussed. A specific focus is on how on understanding of brain processes and how they relate to our theoretical understanding and current thinking about how EMDR therapy intervenes in traumatic stress syndromes. The presentation gives a brief overview of how relevant brain structures, and neural networks are impacted by trauma and how EMDR therapy is a treatment intervention that intervenes at a neurobiological level.
