How to harness the power of compassion during EMDR
Description
Compassion is related to a care-giving motivation towards oneself and others. It is supported by social safety and forms the basis of emotional resilience and moral courage. This will paper will discuss the value of compassion within EMDR practice, including resource installation and compassion focused interweaves. The model is consistent with that of Compassion focused therapy, which was developed by Paul Gilbert to address feelings of shame and self-criticism.
