Telefonische Nachfrage wegen eines Therapieplatzes: „Es handelt sich um ein 11jähriges Kind; lebt in einer Behinderteneinrichtung, hat viele belastende Krankenhausaufenthalte erlebt, weitere stehen bevor. Bestünde die Möglichkeit einer psychotherapeutischen Behandlung?“

Im darauf folgenden kurzen Telefonat erfahre ich zudem: Kind chronisch krank, fast taub (Hörgeräte), auf einem Auge blind, halbseitige Lähmung, wird parenteral über eine Infusion und zudem über eine Sonde, die im Magen liegt, ernährt. Viele Krankenhausaufenthalte, viele Notsituationen, Reanimationen usw. Prognose unklar.

I had a phone call recently from a carer requiring whether I could offer psychotherapy for an 11 year-old patient: the girl is living in a child care facility for the disabled, she has had various and long treatments in hospitals and there will be more of them in the future. Can psychotherapy help her?

The carer provides me subsequently with additional information: the girl is chronically ill, nearly deaf (she needs to wear a hearing aid), blind on one eye, suffers from paralysis on one side and is fed by both infusions and a stomach tube. During her time in various hospitals, the girl had experienced many life-threatening situations (e. g. reanimation). The doctors cannot tell whether she would be able to make it.
