EMDR therapy and the mapping protocol with undocumented Hispanic immigrants and other populations with a history of relocation
Description
Recently arrived Hispanic immigrants who come to Canada are exposed to risks both in their native country and in the United States. Moreover, many immigrants experience trauma while crossing illegally into the United States and are challenged in articulating traumatic events. To support effective interventions against these concerning trends, EMDR therapy can be used for treating severe traumatization along with the Mapping Protocol to collect an interactive timeline and identify targets related to immigration and resettlement. EMDR therapy along with the Mapping Protocol can collectively integrate the EMDR standard protocol with graphic representation among clients with a history of relocation.
