EMDR therapy for domestic violence
Description
Some people find themselves repeatedly involved in harmful and abusive relationships. Many of them struggle to walk away from the relationship, set boundaries, or protect themselves adequately. There are two concepts that are important to differentiate clearly: responsibility and vulnerability. Although the perpetrator is the only one responsible for the mistreatment, the victim may have vulnerabilities that come from his/her/their personal history. In this presentation, we will look at the different problem areas in which it is usually necessary to intervene. Cases will be presented from an EMDR perspective, both in terms of case conceptualization and treatment.
