How to succeed as an EMDRIA consultant in training and approved consultant

Description

This presentation will provide a secure foundation for EMDRIA Certified clinicians to make the transition to successful professional development as CITs and ACs. Succeeding as a CIT and AC requires more than knowledge of the eight phases of EMDR therapy and the standard procedural steps. CITs and ACs are intimately involved with the formation of EMDR clinicians. This presentation covers a range of practical issues including: EMDRIA requirements, procedures, and resources; how to develop a contract for service and objective criteria for writing a recommendation; how to maintain essential records of services and attract and retain consultees. Challenges regarding clinician formation will also be addressed: how to respond to gaps in training and unfamiliarity with the required textbook; how to address ethical issues such as practicing beyond the scope of education, training, and supervised experience; and how to help consultees recognize and navigate countertransference and re-enactments.
