Nuts & bolts of organizing & sustaining a disaster response team

Description

Starting and maintaining a community response network (CRN) is rewarding and time consuming. Whether you are a volunteer nonprofit or a for profit organization, you don't need to reinvent the wheel. Advanced planning facilitates a stronger response, healthier team and sustainability of your organization. This presentation will provide you with the nuts and bolts of organizing a CRN for disaster or crisis situations. Topics include: knowledge and how to integrate with a broad range of community, national, state and local organizations engaged in the response; identify a comprehensive assessment to consider when creating a disaster response team including the the leadership structure; recognize the clinical components of your team including early intervention knowledge and skills, EMDR early intervention, and systematic use of protocols. A discussion of lessons learned from established CRNs may assist you in avoiding the same mistakes. This is a roadmap for building and maintaining your response team.
