La Terapia de Desensibilización y Reprocesamiento por Movimientos Oculares (EMDR por sus siglas en inglés) es uno de los tratamientos de elección para el trauma y su sintomatología asociada, en adultos. Dado el escaso número de estudios en población infanto-juvenil, se llevó a cabo la presente revisión sistemática, con el objetivo de conocer la eficacia de dicha terapia entre los más jóvenes. Adicionalmente se analizaron variables como el sexo, la edad, el tipo de evento traumático y la comorbilidad. Se observó una disminución significativa tanto de la sintomatología relacionada con el trauma, como de otras no relacionadas directamente, lo cual resulta esperanzador para la práctica clínica. No obstante, los estudios analizados cuentan con limitaciones metodológicas que cabrían estar afectando la calidad de los resultados. Esto evidencia la necesidad de una mayor y más rigurosa investigación al respecto, antes de concluir categóricamente lo exitoso de esta terapia.
