EMDR group protocol for children
Description
The EMDR Group Protocol for Children (EMDR-GP/C) was developed in 1999 to intervene to children affected by the Marmara earthquake by Ümran Korkmazlar. Since then, EMDR-GP/C has been used for different populations in various traumatic events and shown to be effective with children affected by earthquake, mining accident, war and loss. It can be used effectively in the acute phase of trauma and/or when Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms occur. EMDR-GP/C can be applied to children over the age of six. Based on the AIP model, the EMDR-GP/C consists of eight phases, just like the standard EMDR protocol which this chapter describes.
