Action-based EMDR group psychotherapy
Description
Therapists trained in Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) work especially with individuals suffering from acute and post-traumatic stress disorder (ASD and PTSD). Continuous group psychotherapy with EMDR provides additional options that widen the scope of therapeutic intervention to EMDR clinicians, as well as to their clienteles. During Action-Based EMDR (AB-EMDR) group sessions, participants may either listen to the stories of their peers or set up sculptures that depict narrated traumas. Co-participation of group members in the reprocessing of traumatic scenes through sculptures intensify collective engagement, facilitates the healing process, and creates a safety network that modulates both expression and containment.
