You are not alone: Sexual violence survivors EMDR group protocol
Description
This chapter outlines the Sexual Violence Survivors EMDR Group Protocol, developed in response to the shortage of EMDR Therapy-trained clinicians to treat the sequelae of sexual violence in Aotearoa New Zealand. The chapter documents the process of developing an Group EMDR Therapy protocol for this population. A step-by-step clinical application of the SVS Group Protocol is described, along with adaptations made in response to the clinically significant challenges that this population presents with. Using the framework provided, EMDR clinicians are encouraged to make further adaptations to this protocol to fit with different populations and cultural contexts. A recommendation is made for future quantitative research to explore the effectiveness of Group EMDR Therapy for this population.
