An Adlerian-feminist model for self-injury treatment: A holistic approach

Description

In this article the authors propose various treatment options for self-injury. Techniques from different theoretical approaches are introduced, and examples are given with regard to implementation in a clinical setting. Feminist and narrative techniques, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and cognitive-behavioral interventions are also described within an Adlerian-feminist theoretical framework. Additionally, a model for intervention and treatment is suggested and illustrated through a case example. As this model has not been empirically assessed, implications for future research to determine the efficacy and practicality of this approach are presented. [Abstract from author]
