Mastering the treatment of complex trauma: Transforming theory into practice

Description

This master class will show how the integration of Structural Dissociation Theory and the Polyvagal Theory with EMDR Psychotherapy is done by master clinicians in complex trauma and dissociation. Specifics on how to treat dissociative phobias and emotional parts of the personality will be illustrated by case examples and video clips. The delicate treatment of “problem parts” of clients’ dissociative personality structures such as perpetrators, teenagers, critical and young parts will be detailed. Advanced dissociative table work will be illustrated as well as time orientation strategies. The expanded Readiness Checklist for trauma reprocessing in clients with complex trauma will be taught. Strategies to titrate the reprocessing of dysfunctional stored traumatic memories to keep the client inside the window of tolerance will complete this conference on using EMDR Psychotherapy with clients who have complex trauma and significant dissociative disorders.
