Resource installation in the EMDR treatment of depression

Description

Depression is a often debilitating disease with a high prevalence. Not only is depres-sion associated with other diseases, often leads into disability and shows a high risk of suicides. Relapse is seen often and every relapse increases the risk of chronicity. Research shows that there is no strong correlation with genetic factors but with stressful life-events. There is growing evidence of the efficacy of EMDR in the treat-ment of chronic depression. As EMDR is well tolerated and accepted there is hope to gain another option in the treatment of chronic depression. A first step in the EMDR depression protocol focusses on the installation of resources. Resource installation is a foundation of memory reprocessing and in depression treatment it aims at estab-lishing a positive body state in the early stages of treatment.

The lecture focuses on application of resource installation in depression treatment within EMDR therapy. Resource installation techniques will be illustrated and data on resource installation provided.
