Description
This chapter documents the deployment of a Group EMDR Therapy with Public Safety Professionals and Emergency Responders while emphasizing the cultural context within which therapists work with these professionals. There are many ethical and legal issues that are interlaced with the therapeutic process. Readers will be provided examples of cases, documentation for working with this special population of clients, and considerations for working within the greater system that employs professionals who are exposed to daily trauma. This chapter will address topics such as building bridges with agencies, the importance of educating the population on stress, trauma, brain fitness, resilience, and hardiness. The remainder of this chapter will focus on using EMDR Therapy in several group models including G-TEP and ERAP.
